This year we feature the Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor), aka the Fairy Penguin, a pint-sized superstar of the penguin world, standing at just 33 cm tall and weighing in at a mere 1 to 1.5 kg as our membership featured species.
We’re highlighting this adorable bird as part of UN Year of Glacier’s Preservation, as these little guys are facing some serious hurdles due to warming seas and other human impacts. In busy urban coastal areas like Port Philip Bay, their numbers are decreasing, so we want to help bring attention to what we can collectively do to help them.
We hope you and your students enjoy your chosen incursion/excursion and learn about the Little Penguin – so together we can improve conservation efforts for ALL native flora and fauna.
