This program allows students to examine the changes plants and animals undergo as they grow and discover their key features that help them survive in our fascinating world.

By exploring the foreshore and intertidal zone, students experience how scientists use common features to classify living things into scientific groups.

This program links to different types of vegetation in Geography, exploring planet Earth as a complex environment that relies on delicate links and sophisticated relationships between living and non-living elements.

Discover the forest environment’s tall trees, soft ferns, mountain creeks, prickly plants and native wildlife!

This new innovative program for level 5 & 6 at our Sustainability Excursion Centre, explores responsible consumerism, design and waste minimisation.

This program gives students the opportunity to classify natural objects and organisms while exploring the interconnectedness and importance of a balanced environment.

Explore the ways in which the plants and animals of the forest have adapted to their environment over time.

This 3 hour program filled with an array of hands on activities, including learning about the evolution of Australia and how it’s changed over time.

Through personal observations, students will uncover the structural and behavioural adaptations that enable organisms to survive in challenging habitats.

Australia is a dry and fire-prone country. The geographical location of Victoria, its vegetation and climate of mild winters followed by hot summers combine to produce one of the most fire-prone environments in the world.

During this 3 hour field trip, students will learn about the water cycle and discover where water in Cardinia and Casey Shire comes from.

Students will have the opportunity to observe the characteristics of these organisms and discover how such features are used to classify species.

Located 1.5 hours’ drive from the centre of Melbourne is Toolangi State Forest, in the Central Highlands Forest. Central Highlands Forests are important for a range of uses and values.

The ecosystems of the Victorian Central Highlands have distinctive characteristics which help to class the region firmly as part of a Temperate Forest Biome. Explore this special region

Students will participate in theory and field activities to gain a better understanding of the interactions between intertidal species at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary.

Explore the many values our forests provide and assess how they are managed to reduce human-induced change for future sustainability.

Explore the magnificent forest ecosystems of the Victorian Central Highlands, and investigate the hydro-meteorological hazards and disasters that characterise the region.

The physiology and behaviour of common intertidal species within Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary will be explored.

Discover the forest environment, it’s structure, functions and natural processes.

During this 4 hour program, you will visit the majestic mountain ash forests of Toolangi, exploring the intricate ecosystems found in the Victorian Central Highlands and a clear felled logging coupe.

From the prehistoric beginnings of Australia’s forests to those we know today,  explore both the ancient and newer ecosystems of Toolangi and how they have changed over time.
