Excursion Program Overview
Children are invited to bring their favourite Teddy or soft toy friend to share a recycling adventure as they use their imaginations to follow the journey from enjoying a bite with friends to reducing and recycling waste. Using a story, song and hands-on exploration, students are introduced to the magic of reuse, recycling and how to create zero waste. They also learn how to identify what material products are made from and how to choose the right bin. It’s the perfect program to introduce 4 year olds to the basics of the Circular Economy.
Activities includes:
- A storybook introduction gets children tuned in.
- Teddybears Picnic at the beach celebrating Cuddly Koala’s birthday helps children discover the amount of waste that can be generated from a simply sharing a meal together. It’s a fun challenge to become zero waste Party Planners!
- The introduction of Sammy the Sword Fish and the opportunity to swim with him, helps children understand how waste gets into our oceans and what we can do to prevent that.
- Intentional and guided play-based activities in What a Load of Rubbish support children in learning about items that can be recycled and where they end up. This includes a waste sorting exercise.
- Singing a song consolidates the learnings from the day!
