Fun Family Learning Last Friday
It was a glorious sunny day last Friday, 10th April, perfect to mark the last Friday of Spring school holidays and Gould League’s inaugural ‘Family Learning’ series event!
The Family Learning ‘Minibeast Safari’ was modelled on our highly popular kindergarten and early primary school program activities, and attracted children between 4 and 8 years old and their parents. Seven families joined us on the day for a garden minibeast hunt, a visit (in minibeast costume of course!) to our Incredible Shrinking Machine, a spot of ponding and our engaging selection of hands-on, play-based learning stations including a bugs-up close viewing station and felt board minibeasts. We wrapped up the morning’s program with live minibeast encounters: stick insects, giant cockroaches and a yabby!
Six families rated the program as ‘excellent’, all ‘strongly agreeing’ that their family were kept engaged, the information was pitched at the right level, there was a good balance of hands on activities, the length of the event was just right and that they would recommend it to friends. Wow!
