Our new forest home!
Gould League is excited to announce that we have been issued a licence by the Department of Environment and Primary Industries to utilise the Discovery Tree Room in Toolangi.
Located on the same site as the iconic Toolangi Forest Discovery Centre, the small building boasts purpose built storage for our program helmets, a replica trunk of a Mountain Ash Tree, interpretive signage and display areas for our collection of taxidermy animals, a classroom space and kitchenette.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Toolangi Community House and coordinator Kerry, for their generous support of storage facilities for the past two years, which ensured we were able to continue to run the rescued Forest Education Programs with the same high quality schools had come to know and love. Read about our rescue of the Toolangi Forest Education Services programs. Also, the Maternal Child Health Centre and nurse Jodie for also providing us with cupboard space for program prop storage.
Running programs out of the Discovery Tree Room from Term 4 and beyond, this marks a new chapter in our Forest Education Journey. We plan to use the Room as a launching place for each program, the way we currently use the Toolangi Community House, to tune students into the theme at hand for the day before heading into the State Forest itself. It will also provide us with an engaging facility to augment our Primary School programs, and ensure a complete day of learning about forests even in inclement weather.
